Our Story

Li Yen, which means "beautiful garden", has been gracefully presenting diners with masterfully crafted Chinese cuisine for more than 20 years.   The artistically redesigned restaurant continues to be the epitome of fine Chinese cuisine, amid an intimate ambience that embraces stylish Chinoiserie design and elegant service.   Every dining experience here is heightened with its reimagined collection of authentic Chinese classics curated in harmony with the seasons.

A native of Hong Kong, Chef Alex Au Ka Wah joined the renowned Pak Loh Chiu Chow restaurant where he honed his skills under the tutelage of Master Chef Chan Tung. He made the move to Kuala Lumpur in 2004 to head the new Pak Loh Chiu Chow. After a successful stint there, he is now at the helm at Li Yen. Chef Alex has breathed new life into age-old recipes while upholding the traditions of Chinese cuisine. Every dish he crafts embodies the essence of his creativity and strong sense of heritage.
